The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon
THE HISTORY OF THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF CENTRAL OREGON
The Boys and Girls Club of Bend was organized and Incorporated in 1994 by a group of 20 Bend volunteers concerned with the lack of after school activities for youth and the growing juvenile crime rate. They studied the options and invited the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to help them establish a Club in Bend.
By 1995 a group of 18 Redmond volunteers decided to establish their own Boys & Girls Club. However, the leadership of both organizations and their two respective Boards of Directors voted to merge as one agency on February 14, 1997. In doing so, savings were realized in administrative overhead and program services were enhanced.
Currently there are Clubs with Branch Advisory Councils operating in Bend, Central Jefferson County, Redmond, La Pine, Warm Springs, Prineville, and an extension in Terrebone. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon comprises the area’s leading network of youth organizations addressing the developmental needs of children and targeting those who are most disadvantaged.
We are very proud to donate 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales during Monday night’s Lithia Charity Casino Night to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Oregon. Additional donations are gladly accepted and will be given directly to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon on behalf of the Lithia Pacific Amateur Golf Classic.
