The USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. Local Rules sheets will be provided at each golf facility. All disputes regarding any aspect of tournament play will be reviewed by the Tournament Committee. All rules decisions are final.
The Use of Distance Measuring Devices (DMD’s)
The Lithia Pacific Amateur Golf Classic will allow for all tournament rounds players to obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc,), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.
The USGA has provided the verbiage above so that tournaments could allow participants to use DMD’s during play. The USGA and R&A released a joint statement on electronic devices, including distance-measuring devices. The Oregon Golf Association has also created a flow chart (download the flow chart pdf file) and DMD Clarification Document (download the OGA DMD clarification document) to help participants determine whether the device they have is legal for use.
Spectators and Guests
The tournament entry fee includes cost of cart (2 participants per cart) for three rounds. Spectators are allowed during tournament play, but are prohibited from riding in the participant carts or interfering with play in any way. Spectators must check in with the golf staff prior to tournament rounds to receive any special instructions or restrictions. The use of caddies or the receiving of advice is prohibited.
